Lawn Treatment Customer Information

Scheduling

After we receive your payment information, our Services Department will schedule your first application starting with the treatment corresponding to the current month. You will receive an email notification prior to your first application. The email will come from Cole at services@ncturfcare.com. These regularly scheduled treatments do not typically require confirmation.

To avoid missing these important notifications, we advise you to add Cole to your contact list.

Aeration Requirements from Customer

During aeration season (Fall for Fescue, Spring for Bermuda/Zoysia), you will be receiving an email that does require confirmation as there are specific questions that must be answered. If you have an invisible dog fence or irrigation system, these must be marked prior to our Tech’s arrival to complete your aeration to avoid damages. North Carolina Turf Care will not be held responsible for any damage to invisible fences, irrigation heads, or cables if the turf is not marked. If irrigation lines and cable lines are buried at regular depth, aeration will not harm the lines.

To avoid missing these important notifications, we advise you to add Cole to your contact list.

Mowing Tips

Please don’t let the timing of treatment disrupt your mowing schedule. It is fine to mow prior to the application or the following day after the service has been completed. If you are mowing after the service do not bag your clippings. Mowing at the proper height and correct frequency will aid in the health of your turf. As long as the product has dried, you are okay to mow your grass; however, best practice is to wait 24 hours after the treatment.

Fescue Turf - Mow turf on a regular weekly schedule. It is best to to set the blade height to the highest level (at least 4 inches).

Bermuda Turf - Start mowing when the turf turns green and mow on a regularly weekly schedule. Bermuda likes to be as short as possible. Most mowers only go down to 2 inches. Frequent mowing will train the grass to grow outward which will help it to fill in and thicken.

Sharpen your mower blade! A dull mower blade tears grass, creating ragged, brown edges that provide an opening for disease organisms. Sharpen your mower blade regularly. The rule of thumb is that a sharp blade lasts for 10 hours of mowing. Consider purchasing a second blade so you’ll always have a sharp blade at the ready.

Watering Tips

For the healthiest grass, water your lawn deeply and infrequently. Water 2-3 times per week for 30-60 minutes per area. Complete the watering in the morning hours between 5-10am to help with preventing fungal disease. If this is not possible for your schedule, avoid evening and nighttime watering. Always be mindful to follow local watering restrictions when applicable.

Weeds

Typically, weeds will die back 14-21 days following a treatment. If you see any bending, twisting or any yellowing the weeds are in the process of dying. On occasion, weeds may still be visible for a few more weeks (1-2 mows).

Types of Treatments

With a liquid application, you will not be able to see the fertilizer or weed control on the lawn, please keep off until dry. With a granular fertilizer, the tiny pellets may or may not be visible in your turf. Their visibility depends on the application. The pellets could be white, black, brown, or yellow. Watering the application will start the process.

Child / Pet Safety

After the product has completely dried, the lawn is safe for your loved ones to be on again. Typically the dry time is 2 hours post treatment.

However, if we treat and it rains before the product has dried, your turf will still be wet, therefore the chemicals will remain on your lawn. Water activates the product. Any new wetness will reactivate the product if it has not yet dried. Please wait until your lawn has completely dried after treatment before allowing children or pets to play.
